“Velvet Bloom” part of the “Amongst the Wildflowers” collection.

Pansies are one of my favorite spring flowers. Growing up I would find them growing wild and loved to pick a handful to bring home. This mini impasto oil painting showcases the delicate intricacies of a pansy flower. The painting features a close-up view, with the petals unfolding in an array of soft whites, pinks, and deep burgundy hues. Each petal is crafted with thick, textured layers of paint, lending a sculptural quality to the artwork that brings the pansy to life. The petals’ edges are highlighted with subtle hints of yellow and pale purple, capturing the natural variegation found in these charming flowers.

The background is rendered in a harmonious blend of cool greens and grays, with a light touch of gold metallic that adds a hint of luxury and complements the flower’s warm tones.
